where do i download selenia?
you can't, at least not from the app store. apple turned her down under guideline 4.3, which means the store already has plenty of astrology apps, and she isn't on testflight either. the code is open source on github (GPL-3.0), so if you have a mac with xcode you can build her onto your own iphone.
my chart doesn't match the one from another app
three usual reasons. the house system (whole sign and placidus disagree constantly, and they are both right), the zodiac (tropical or sidereal), and the birth time itself, since some apps round to the nearest five minutes. selenia recomputes every position from the ephemeris for the exact moment you gave it, so the planets should agree with astro.com closely; if they do not, please write to me, that one is a bug.
i don't know my birth time
say so in the editor. selenia then casts the chart for local noon and treats the houses, the ascendant and the midheaven as unreliable rather than quietly inventing them. sun, moon and the planets are still meaningful, and the moon may drift up to about six degrees across the day.
which house systems are there?
whole sign, placidus, equal and porphyry, chosen per chart. placidus is genuinely undefined near the poles, so above the arctic circle selenia falls back instead of drawing nonsense.
sidereal? asteroids?
sidereal with the lahiri ayanamsa is a toggle on each chart. chiron, ceres, pallas, juno, vesta and lilith are opt in, and off by default so the wheel stays readable.
where does my birth data live?
on your phone, and nowhere else. there is no account, no cloud, no analytics. charts are stored as the raw details you typed, with the timezone, and recomputed each time you open them. deleting the app deletes them, so if a chart matters to you, screenshot or share it out first. typing a birthplace asks apple's geocoder to turn it into coordinates, and that is the only thing the app sends anywhere.
are the readings written by an ai?
no. they are fixed text i wrote, assembled from your placements, so the same placement always gives you the same words. nothing is generated, nothing is sent to a chatbot, and there is no subscription behind them.
notifications keep arriving / never arrive
transit alerts and birthday reminders are opt in and entirely local. turn them on or off inside selenia, and check ios settings → notifications → selenia if you allowed them once and changed your mind.
why are there real stars in an astrology app?
because the sky is real. the celestial sphere draws your chart onto actual catalogued stars in their true positions, with the constellation figures behind the ecliptic, so you can see where the signs sit against the sky rather than only on a wheel.
what happened to ecliptica?
same app, earlier name. she's selenia now.
privacy, briefly: selenia collects nothing and has no account. birth data stays in the app on your device. looking up a birthplace uses apple's geocoder; nothing else leaves your phone.
what it is: astrology, offered as symbolism and self reflection. selenia does not give medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it will never tell you something is going to happen to you.
the maths is real ephemeris computation rather than lookup tables, shared with astrelia, the planetarium app. every algorithm and dataset is credited in about → sources.
