astrelia collects nothing. no account, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no network requests of any kind. the app cannot send your data anywhere because it never talks to anything.

what the app asks for, and why PERMS.TXT ✧⋆

three permissions, all optional, all used only on your device while the app is open:

  • location: your latitude, longitude and altitude decide which sky is above you and where each object sits in it. it is used in the moment, to do the maths, and is never written to a server or attached to anything.
  • motion: the compass and accelerometers tell the app where the phone is pointed, so the right patch of sky is on screen. that reading never leaves the device either.
  • camera: only for ar mode, where the sky is drawn over the live view. frames are shown on screen and thrown away. nothing is recorded, saved to your photos, or transmitted.

decline any of them and astrelia still works: set a home location in settings and the sky is computed for that place instead.

what is stored, and where LOCAL.TXT ⋆✦

your settings live in the app's own preferences on your phone: the mode and field of view you left the sky in, which filters are on, your units, and a home observing location if you saved one. that is all of it, and it stays on the device.

the star, planet, deep-sky and exoplanet catalogues ship inside the app itself, which is why it works with no signal at the top of a hill.

what is never collected NONE.TXT ✦✧
  • no account, because there is no sign in
  • no analytics, usage tracking or advertising identifiers
  • no automatic crash reports
  • no contacts, photos, health data or microphone access
  • no location history: your position is used and forgotten, never logged
  • no third party sdks of any kind
deleting your data RM.TXT ✧⋆

deleting the app removes its preferences with it. nothing of yours exists anywhere else, so there is nothing else to delete and nothing for me to hand back.

children KIDS.TXT ⋆✦

astrelia is rated 4+ and is safe for children: it has no ads, no purchases, no chat and no user content. the only links out to the web are the source credits in about → sources, which open in safari if you tap them. it collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

questions and changes MAIL.EXE ✦✧

if this policy ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. anything unclear, write to me and i will answer.
