kanade collects nothing. no analytics, no telemetry, no accounts on our side, no servers of ours at all.
kanade's whole job is sending your listening activity to your own last.fm account, at your request, after you sign in through last.fm's official authorization page. what last.fm does with your scrobbles is governed by last.fm's privacy policy.
to show album artwork, kanade searches apple's public itunes search api with the artist, song and album name of what you're playing, and if that finds nothing, asks last.fm for the album's art. no account information is included.
the direct-download build can also show what you're playing on discord. it talks to the discord app already running on your mac, over a local socket, and you can turn it off in the popover. the mac app store build doesn't include this at all.
your last.fm session key lives in your mac's keychain, and your last.fm username, artist renames and kanade's small settings live in the app's local preferences. scrobbles that couldn't be sent yet (say, while you're offline) wait in a small file in the app's own folder until last.fm accepts them. none of it is sent anywhere except last.fm itself.
we (the developer) receive nothing: no usage data, no crash reports, no identifiers. kanade has no backend.
