the short version: kanade collects nothing. no analytics, no telemetry, no accounts on our side, no servers of ours at all.

what kanade sends, and to whom

kanade's whole job is sending your listening activity to your own last.fm account, at your request, after you sign in through last.fm's official authorization page. what last.fm does with your scrobbles is governed by last.fm's privacy policy.

to show album artwork, kanade queries apple's public itunes search api with the artist and album name of the song you are playing. no account information is included.

what stays on your mac

your last.fm session key and kanade's small settings live in the app's local preferences on your computer. they are never sent anywhere except last.fm itself.

what we never see

we (the developer) receive nothing: no usage data, no crash reports, no identifiers. kanade has no backend.
